We are a family firm who have traded for over 30 years in Barnsley and Doncaster. Graham is a City & Guilds trained builder and his son Joe is a qualified plumbing and heating engineer.
Graham was living near Holmfirth when he undertook his apprenticeship as a stonemason bricklayer and worked for a local firm there, thus he gained much experience of working on domestic dwellings and industrial and agricultural premises. Having a natural flair for working with stone or brick, he has enjoyed the challenges of the varied jobs he has worked on over the past 35 years. He has used this structural understanding and experience many times over, and has become skilled at converting customers' ideas into quality completed jobs.
Joe has completed a 4 year plumbing and heating apprenticeship with CITB and has continued to develop his skills, strengthening this side of the business. His expertise dovetails with Graham's, enabling the firm to seamlessly undertake projects such as bathroom conversions and level access wet rooms.
We are also Gas Safe registered and are able to fit the latest energy efficient gas boilers and bespoke heating systems.
With Graham’s wife Stella dealing with the general running of the company and presenting the quotes and invoicing, it really is a family effort!

BATHROOMS
BATHROOM REFURBISHMENTS
We have fitted many bathrooms over the years, which our customers have always been very happy with. We can make an initial visit to discuss your ideas and practicalities of any proposed alterations to the existing room. We cater for whichever bathroom suite supplier you would like, but we prefer to deal with reputable merchants and manufacturers who supply good quality, generally British made, materials with a guarantee. Catalogues from leading manufacturers are available for ideas and inspiration. We have an excellent range of bathroom and en-suite sanitary ware available through our suppliers. Choose your tiles and we can pick them up from the suppliers of your choice. Covering all the associated trades ourselves contributes to a seamless job, which can include any structural alterations, plastering, wall and floor tiling, under- floor heating, boiler and heating control upgrades, radiators etc., as well as fitting the actual bathroom suite. If you require, we can also include the finishing touches, like fitting the towel rail, toilet roll holder, cabinet, blind etc. leaving you with less hassle and a room ready for immediate use.

EN-SUITES
If you are thinking of creating an en-suite room, we would be able to advise you on the best location in terms of space and access to plumbing. We are able to carry out any alterations necessary, including formation of new walls and doorways. With the benefit of Saniflow macerators, lack of access to drainage pipe work is a problem that is easily resolved.
If you just need a new suite fitting, or a makeover to an existing en-suite room, we have an excellent range of bathroom and en-suite sanitary ware available through our suppliers. Choose your tiles and we can pick them up from the store for you. If required, we can also include the finishing touches, like fitting the towel rail, toilet roll holder, cabinet, blind etc. leaving you with less hassle and a room ready for immediate use.

LEVEL ACCESS WET ROOMS
This type of showering area is becoming a popular choice. A traditional shower tray can be omitted, with floor tiles continuing to form the base of the showering area, fitted over a waterproof membrane. This makes the room seamless to the eye and takes out anything to step over, giving a much simpler, pared back look that is easier to clean too (please see photos in the gallery area of the website).
OTHER SERVICES
HEATING
We are Gas Safe registered and are able to carry out any work on gas boilers, cookers and gas pipe work. Being qualified and holding the relevant certification for both natural gas and LPG, for installations that are off the main gas grid, the fitting of boilers, gas hobs, cookers and safety checking of the existing system is all within our remit. Installation of new energy efficient heating controls and existing heating system upgrades can all be carried out by ourselves.
Although not our specialist field, we have a reasonable knowledge of various boiler types in the event of a breakdown or heating failure. This includes both oil and gas boilers.
Servicing of oil and gas boilers can be carried out and boiler efficiency can be ascertained by analysis of flue gases, with computer printout on completion.

GENERAL PLUMBING
We deal with burst pipes above and below ground, leaky taps and problems with showers. We fit new radiators and thermostatic valves, heating pumps and immersion heaters. We also fit new inside and outside taps, showers, sinks, toilets and baths. In fact, we are happy to quote for any general plumbing alterations.
We always endeavour to get to you as quickly as we can if it’s an emergency.

ALTERATIONS
We offer an alteration service should you wish rooms to be changed in any way i.e. doorways blocking up and new ones forming, new internal walls, or removal, including new load bearing beams/lintels should this be required. We undertake the job from beginning to end, including associated electrical, plumbing and plastering work.
We carry out various structural repairs, alterations and remodelling jobs where existing rooms or buildings can be transformed to provide a more practical or useful layout. Using our extensive and expert knowledge of construction gathered over many years, from domestic dwellings to commercial premises, we are able to assess the requirements needed to create a good and lasting solution for your project. We are able to program and carry out the job from beginning to end, including all the trades associated with the scheme.

We undertake both internal and external repair and maintenance.

I cannot speak too highly of Graham Mathers workmanship. Over a period of 20 years he has done several projects for me both large and small. Nothing is too much for him and he has a professional eye for seeing tasteful ways of making either a renovation or new build exclusive and different from ordinary run of the mill ideas.
Over the years I have had new roofs, extensions to outbuildings and general repairs. More recently I have had a large bedroom converted to include an en suite and a walk in wardrobe with a layout I could not have thought of myself. His last project which was finished 2011 was a complete new kitchen using two smaller rooms to extend into a kitchen diner. I now have a quirky country kitchen complete with exposed beams and some walls showing the natural brick of the area and a new Italian tile floor. Graham has also created a new laundry room with a small toilet.
His prices are competitive and he has a first class business approach to his work which he takes great pride in. His greatest asset is his creative approach to his work and can make ideas for alterations and conversions very artistic. I have no hesitation in recommending Graham Mathers as an honest, reliable and enthusiastic person who will bring a job to a satisfactory end no matter how big or small.

My husband chose Graham and his team as he has known him through his business for some years and has seen close hand, Grahams work. With the information gathered by my husband and with Graham’s assistance, he assessed our renovation project. Graham kindly offered advice and gave us new ideas, that we may not have previously given much thought. Graham had the foresight to see the completed project and want it to be the best.
Throughout the building process Graham, kept in constant contact, sometimes calling when questions arose. There was never a time when professionalism was lost or a problem was not dealt with in a timely manner.
Punctuality was no issue. The team worked very hard. Even our neighbour commented on how hard they all worked and how they were on site early, every day in all weathers. Their work conversations are clean making a granny able not to blush as she comes to the site!

Graham and his son have recently completely re-vamped my bathroom: shower, low level shower tray & enclosure, bath with mixer taps, vanity unit and radiator/towel rail. They did everything – not only installing the new fittings, but also all the plumbing, plus channelling out the concrete floor for the shower waste, replastering walls and ceiling, tiling where I wanted, and installing new light fittings. Got a problem and need a tradesman? No need to look up 'phone numbers for bricklayers, electricians, joiners, plasterers, plumbers, tilers, roofers, window installers - Graham Mathers can do it all. He has employed all these skills in work he has done for us over the past fifteen years or so, and we have always been satisfied with the results and the cost.
